Treasures Old and New

• New blossoms are always connected to old root systems.
• If the old root does not grow new leaves, it dies
  
• If the old root system is not there, no new blossoms can emerge in the spring time
• Old and new are always dependent on each other
  

It is important to know what to hold onto permanently, and what can safely be let go.

• The "imagination" is a whole world inside the mind...

Parables are powerful "word-pictures" that are meant to be engrafted into our thinking...as mental pictures do control our thought-life.

That's where the "imagination" gets involved. The imagination allows mental exploration of the past, present, future. It is the ability to see pictures and images in the "movie theater" of the mind. The imagination is the "workshop" of the human mind. It is the only thing in the world we have complete control over. That's why GOD takes great interest of what goes on there, and judges what we allow to grow there - Genesis 6.5

Matthew 13.51-52

"Have you understood all these things [parables] taken together? They said to Him, Yes, Lord.

"He said to them, Therefore every teacher and interpreter of the sacred writings who has been instructed about and trained for the kingdom of heaven and has become a disciple is like a householder who brings forth out of his storehouse treasure that is new and [treasure that is] old [the fresh as well as the familiar]." AMP

Treasures Old and New is where we never lose our gratitude for the old truths as we gain access to the new.

• The key is not to throw away the old foolishly, nor fear to embrace the new as it comes along
  
• The new is the teachings of the kingdom of GOD.
  
• But it is not a radical break from the past. Now, we are called  to "love our enemies" , to "do good to those who abuse us", to "give the other cheek"...
  
• God’s purposes of "releasing forgiveness" and breaking with the power of the past deceptions have been marching forward from the beginning.
•  Some fear tradition, others fear innovation - to be asked to step out of the safety of the boat where the other disciples are comfortably seated, and to walk to Jesus and His future for us.  

Let us be willing to embrace present truths and realities without rejecting the past which has brought each one of us to this point in our lives...

Treasures Old and New...

A new day came up this morning...

• it is a continuation of yesterday
  
• it is not isolated
• yesterday is past
• today is new

We cannot escape the old and established. We should learn off them.

Old truths must always yield its place to the new...

As we access new information, such as the unfolding truth of the "spiritual heart" - everything looks, and becomes different.

One new, tradition-breaking truth can affect the way we look at everything.
